Velocity

Velocity is an American manufacturer of aluminum rims and wheels with an unusually broad range for everything from road and touring to gravel, mountain biking, and more specialized wheel builds. We find them particularly interesting because Velocity is one of the few manufacturers that still offers a serious range of quality rims for bicycles with rim brakes - including sizes and specifications that have become increasingly difficult to find.

The company was founded in Australia in 1989 and now manufactures its rims in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At a time when large parts of the bicycle industry have switched to disc brakes, Velocity continues to manufacture rims for both classic and modern bicycles with rim brakes. This makes them an important manufacturer for touring bikes, randonneur bikes, fixed gear, older mountain bikes, and other bicycles that deserve good wheels long after the industry has moved on to the next standard.
