Shimano: From Freewheel in Sakai to World-Leading Innovation

Shimano was founded in 1921 by the 26-year-old Shozaburo Shimano in Higashi Minato, Sakai City. What began with a vision to manufacture the perfect freewheel has grown into the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycle components.

Shimano is the world’s largest manufacturer of gears, hubs, and bicycle components. They probably need no further introduction.
