Halo Vapour GXC 700c 12/142mm TA Centerlock Rear Wheel - Shimano HG - Silver

Halo Vapour GXC is a light 700c rear wheel for gravel, long-distance riding and fast all-road builds where you want a wheel that rolls efficiently and can be kept running far from home. This silver version combines modern standards such as a 12x142 mm thru axle, Centerlock and tubeless compatibility with a less than entirely black look – a good option for builds where classic silver components meet a modern gravel drivetrain.

Vapour GXC is the lightest wheel series in Halo's Vapour family and was developed for gravel racing, ultradistance, XC, road plus and lighter touring. The rim measures 21 mm internally and 26 mm externally, a width that works well with gravel tyres, larger road tyres and narrower MTB tyres without making the wheel unnecessarily heavy or wide. The rear wheel weighs from 1025 grams and comes pre-taped for tubeless use.

The GXC Supadrive hub uses 120 engagement points, equivalent to 3° between engagements. This provides a fast response when you start pedalling again after a corner, a technical section or a short steep climb. The hub has sealed cartridge bearings, wide flanges and a Shimano Road 11 HG freehub body. This version is therefore for a Shimano HG-compatible cassette and should not be confused with the XDR or Micro Spline versions. The brake rotor is mounted with Centerlock, and the rear hub is built for a 12x142 mm thru axle.

Halo has chosen 32 standard J-bend spokes instead of proprietary spokes. It may not be the most attention-grabbing specification on a wheel, but for a long-distance bike it is important: if a spoke breaks, it is considerably easier to find a replacement at a regular bike workshop. The same thinking sets the Vapour GXC apart from more extreme lightweight wheels, where low weight is sometimes prioritised over easy servicing.

Choose Vapour GXC if you are looking for a light and service-friendly 700c gravel rear wheel with a 12x142 mm axle, Centerlock and Shimano HG, especially if you appreciate the less common silver finish. If the bike is instead being built for heavily loaded touring, Halo's Vapour GXC Tour with 36 spokes is the more natural choice; the standard GXC is better suited to gravel, ultradistance and lighter loads where lower weight still matters.
