Chrome Industries Merino Cobra 3.0 Hoodie

The Chrome Industries Merino Cobra 3.0 Hoodie is one of those garments that works from your morning bike commute through the rest of the day without requiring much thought. We’ve previously called the Cobra a true 24-hour garment, and that’s still a good description: a fitted merino hoodie designed for cycling but that looks and works like an everyday garment when you get off the bike.

The fabric is made of 53% merino wool, 44% recycled polyester, and 3% spandex. Merino wool gives the garment its soft, functional feel, while the polyester makes the fabric more durable and the spandex adds a little extra freedom of movement. The result is a hoodie that works well as a midlayer on colder days, but also on its own in spring, fall, and cool summer evenings.

The Cobra 3.0 has a high collar and a three-panel hood that provide more coverage around your neck and head when the temperature drops. The two-way front zipper makes it easy to unzip from the bottom when you’re leaning forward on the bike, and the cuffs have discreet thumbholes that keep the sleeves in place when you reach for the handlebars.

Storage is also designed with cycling in mind. There are secure zippered pockets at the front and a full-width pass-through pocket at the back, providing extra space without changing the garment’s clean look. The photos also show the relatively close-fitting, athletic cut and the slightly longer back hem, which feels natural in a cycling position.

The Merino Cobra 3.0 is neither a dedicated cycling jersey nor an ordinary cotton hoodie. That in-between quality is exactly what makes it so useful: technical enough for daily commuting and longer rides, but understated enough to be an easy choice for the rest of the day.
