The Dia-Compe ENE Rear Road Hub is a classic rear hub for building a 135 mm QR wheel for rim brakes. Its highly polished silver finish and clean, traditional shape are especially well suited to touring, randonneur, and road builds where you want to combine a classic look with modern sealed bearings and a Shimano HG cassette.
ENE Ciclo is Dia-Compe's series of components with clear roots in classic road and touring cycling. You can see that in this hub. The shape is simple and timeless, but the construction is designed for a modern drivetrain rather than a freewheel or older cassette standards.
The hub shell is made of A6061 aluminum and uses sealed cartridge bearings, making it a robust, low-maintenance choice for bikes that are built to cover many miles. The freehub body is made of steel, a good choice for a touring hub where durability takes priority over saving a few grams.
The Shimano HG freehub body is designed for 11-speed road cassettes. You can also use 8-, 9-, and 10-speed Shimano HG cassettes with the correct spacer. This makes the ENE Rear an interesting option both for new builds and for pairing a classic 135 mm QR frame with a more modern drivetrain.
The hub has 32 spoke holes for standard J-bend spokes and a 135 mm O.L.D. This standard has long been common on touring bikes, trekking bikes, and other QR frames where durability and wheel strength are priorities. Note that this is a rim-brake hub - it has no disc brake mount.
A very nice choice for building a classic touring or randonneur wheel if you want that polished Dia-Compe look without giving up sealed bearings and a modern Shimano HG freehub body.
