Bassi: Canadian Functionality in Classic Steel

Bassi is a Canadian brand whose philosophy is that bikes should be practical, functional, and stylish. The latter might sound superficial, but it’s also what inspires us at Urban Bike Wear—a stylish bike is a fast bike!

All their frames are made with larger tire clearance and mounts for all the practical things you need for everyday use and long-distance cycling: fenders, one or two racks, and liters of water. Here, steel tubing is the choice, the classic material for building bikes that remains the most practical and reliable option (at a reasonable price—we are aware of titanium’s existence).

We ride their randonneur model Le Montréal ourselves, a fantastic platform to build a bike tailored to your needs. Drop bars, narrower tires, and fenders for touring; flat bars and wide slick tires for bike commuting; drop bars with wide patterned tires for gravel riding. If you like tinkering with bikes, you’ll probably swap handlebar setups and configurations throughout the season on your Bassi frame. Their frames use external cable routing, so feel free to experiment—it’s a pure pleasure to work with these bikes.
