Carradice – British bicycle bags built to be used
Carradice has been making bicycle bags in Nelson, Lancashire since 1932. The brand emerged from a simple need: cyclists needed practical bags that could withstand daily use, bad weather, and long journeys. Almost a century later, Carradice still builds its bags with the same focus on function, durability, and the ability to repair rather than replace.
This is not retro design created just for show. Carradice’s traditional constructions have survived because they work.
Waxed cotton for touring, commuting, and longer rides
Many of Carradice’s most well-known saddle bags and bicycle bags are made from heavy-duty, waxed Cotton Duck. The material resists rain, can be rewaxed when needed, and develops a personal patina over time. Together with sturdy straps, thoughtful pockets, and proven constructions, it creates bags made for many years of cycling.
The range extends from compact saddle bags like the Barley to larger Longflap models and spacious bags for long-distance touring. They fit just as naturally on a traditional touring bike as on a modern gravel build, a randonneur, or a well-equipped commuter bike.
A different kind of bikepacking
Carradice represents an alternative to the modern bikepacking bag. Instead of narrow, tightly compressed bags, you often get easily accessible storage that hangs transversely behind the saddle. This makes it easy to pack extra clothes, tools, food, and equipment for a full day or several days on the road.
With the right mounting, and if needed a Bagman support, the bag sits securely without requiring a traditional rack.
Bags that last a long time
Choose Carradice if you appreciate well-thought-out products that can be maintained, repaired, and continue to be used year after year. These are bicycle bags with a clear history, but above all, bags for people who actually ride – to work, through the rain, over gravel roads, and onward to the next overnight stop.
