Bookman Volume™ 800 Bike Lighting

Bookman Volume™ 800 is a powerful yet relatively compact rechargeable front light for commuting, road riding, gravel, and training. With 800 lumens and a beam pattern that concentrates the light where it is needed in front of the bike, it also performs well when the pace picks up and you need more than a light that merely makes you visible.

What really sets the Volume apart from many other bike lights is Bookman’s Power Wheel. Instead of clicking through a series of modes, you turn the dial to adjust the brightness across five levels. It is easy to use even with gloves and makes it simple to lower the output when you want to save battery power, then quickly turn up the brightness when the road gets darker. A button switches between steady and flashing light.

The replaceable 3200 mAh battery provides approximately 3 hours at full power and up to 35 hours with a steady light at the lowest level. The battery can be replaced when it starts to age or supplemented with an extra battery for longer rides. The Volume 800 charges via USB-C and can also be charged from a power bank while you ride.

The light uses a Garmin-compatible mount and comes with a handlebar mount. A GoPro adapter is also included for mounting underneath a compatible bike computer or on helmet and other GoPro mounts. The housing is made of durable plastic, and the light is IPX5-rated for rain and wet conditions.

Compared with the Volume 1500, the 800 model is smaller and lighter, making it a better choice when you want plenty of light without carrying more light than you need. For truly dark roads, fast gravel riding, and long rides where maximum brightness and battery capacity are most important, the Volume 1500 is the stronger option.
