About Urban Bike Wear & The Mechanics
UrbanBikeWear.com started in December 2012 in Johan’s living room with a small selection of cycling clothes and bags for bike commuting. From the beginning, UBW’s concept has been to carefully select from the large market and find brands with a lot of soul. Our ambition is to be your specialized bike shop where you can feel confident that the range is chosen just for you. Urban Bike Wear also brought the Bicycle Film Festival to Stockholm in 2013 at Debaser Medis and in 2014 to Arktes. In connection with the 2013 festival, we also organized Stockholm Bike Fest at Medborgarplatsen, Björn’s Garden, Åsötorget, and Debaser Medis, an event with over 3000 visitors.
Today we have a wide range of cycling clothes and bags from Chrome Industries, Bagaboo, Endura, Swrve and more. Brands that meet our quality demands and are used by high-performing cyclists worldwide.
Our focus areas are Fixed gear, Single speed, Road, Gravel and Bikepacking. The latter is a segment we are particularly fond of and we are happy to help you find the right bike, bags or equipment for your bikepacking adventure. For the urban fixed hub and single speed cyclist, we have many courier bags/messenger bags and stylish clothes that withstand great strain.
When we opened our physical bike shop “Urban Bike Wear & The Mechanics” in 2015, we began working with bike makers such as Cinelli, Genesis Bikes, Brother Cycles, Surly, Bombtrack, Salsa and others. Both for their approach to quality and their focus on making cycling fun. At Tjärhovsgatan 14 we also gained more space, so we started importing Chris King, Runwell, Izumi, Vision, Nitto, MKS, Restrap, Dia-Compe, Velo Orange, White Industries and other more specialized brands that we love.
