The BLB Beefy Lockring is called Beefy for a reason. It’s extra thick, giving the lockring tool a better grip when tightening or loosening it. A small detail, but very welcome when a thin lockring is stuck and the tool tends to slip.
On a fixed gear, the lockring sits outside the cog and keeps it from unscrewing when you resist the pedals. Beefy is CNC-machined from Cro-Mo steel and uses the standard British lockring thread, 1.29 × 24 TPI. The thread is left-hand, the opposite direction to the cog - just as it should be on a traditional fixed gear hub.
This is first and foremost a robust, straightforward lockring for a bike that gets ridden. The extra thickness makes it nicer to work with in the workshop, and the black finish keeps the look simple on the hub. Just check your hub’s thread standard before ordering, since not all track hubs use the same lockring thread.
