Brooks B17 Special Titanium - Honey
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Brooks B17 is one of those products that has survived generations of cycling trends for one simple reason: the design works. For long-distance riding, touring, randonneuring, and gravel where the riding position is relatively upright, a well-broken-in B17 can become a saddle you use for many years. The B17 Special Titanium builds on the same basic idea, but with titanium rails and a titanium frame that make it noticeably lighter than the standard B17 models without changing the saddle’s classic character.
The saddle’s top is made from thick, vegetable-tanned Brooks leather stretched between the nose and rear section, much like a small hammock. This means the comfort does not come from foam or gel, but from the leather’s ability to flex as you ride. Over time, it also moulds itself to your body. That is part of the appeal of a Brooks leather saddle: it is not a disposable product that feels the same from the first day to the last, but something that changes, develops a patina, and becomes more personal the more it is used.
The Special version is recognisable by its large hand-hammered copper rivets, while the Titanium version goes a step further with titanium rails and frame. This results in a weight of around 410 grams, compared with just over half a kilo for a standard B17 with a steel frame. The difference may matter less on a heavily loaded touring bike, but becomes significantly more relevant on a carefully considered gravel, randonneur, or custom build where you want the comfort and character of a B17 without as much weight.
The B17 is approximately 175 mm wide and 275 mm long, and is primarily intended for a moderately forward-leaning riding position. Our general advice is to have the handlebars roughly level with the saddle or higher if you want to get the best from a B17. If you ride with a very large drop between the saddle and handlebars and an aggressive road position, narrower Brooks models may be a better fit. And just like other traditional Brooks saddles, the B17 may need some time before the leather begins to mould itself to you – do not choose it expecting a soft gel saddle straight out of the box.
The honey-coloured leather and hand-hammered copper rivets give the saddle an appearance that works particularly well on steel bikes, touring builds, and classic custom bikes, but it is above all the way the material ages that makes the colour interesting. The leather will gradually change and develop its own patina as the miles accumulate.
The B17 Special Titanium is for anyone who already appreciates what a Brooks B17 is, but wants the most refined version of the classic design: the same mouldable leather, the same long-distance character, and the same repairable underlying concept, combined with a titanium frame and hand-hammered copper rivets.
Highlights & Specifications:
- Premium titanium frame: Titanium rails and frame reduce the weight compared with the standard steel model, while also providing outstanding vibration damping.
- Hand-hammered copper rivets: Each rivet is hammered by hand by skilled craftspeople in England to secure the leather and give the saddle its distinctive appearance.
- Hammock effect: The tensioned leather flexes naturally with your movements and effectively absorbs bumps from the road.
- Unique comfort: It moulds itself to you as you use it – a saddle that only becomes more comfortable over the years.
- Intended use: Ideal for touring, long-distance cycling, randonneuring, gravel, and classic road builds.

Build your custom dream bicycle with us
Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.
Quote
After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
