Brother Cycles Mehteh Frames - Blue Lagoon

Brother Cycles Mehteh is a Reynolds 725 frameset for anyone looking for a gravel bike that feels fast on gravel but doesn’t lose its composure when the road gets really rough. With clearance for up to 700 × 50 mm or 650B × 2.2" tires, you can build it into anything from a fast gravel bike to a serious bikepacking rig with plenty of tire volume and comfort.

The latest Mehteh has redesigned UDH-compatible rear dropouts. This means the frame works with both a traditional rear derailleur and SRAM Full Mount. The rear axle is 12 × 142 mm and the brakes are flat mount. The frame is made from heat-treated, double-butted Reynolds 725 steel and ED-treated beneath the paint.

The included Brother Carbon Gravel Fork is made entirely from carbon fiber and has three mounting points on each fork leg, fender mounts, and internal dynamo-cable routing. The fork also features flip-chip dropouts that allow you to change the offset. The frame has three sets of bottle-cage mounts in all sizes, as well as mounts for a rear rack and fenders. In other words, there are plenty of ways to load up the bike when the trip turns out to be longer than planned.

Blue Lagoon is hardly the discreet version. The turquoise-blue paint has black speckles and fades to black around the rear dropouts and at the bottom of the fork legs, complemented by gold-colored Brother decals and Brother emblems on the head tube. Quite a good look for a frame called Mehteh—the name of the Yeti in the Himalayas. We still find the phonetic pronunciation guide a little difficult, but we can say without hesitation that this gravel frame is a beast in its own right.

Compared with the Brother Kepler, the Mehteh is the choice when you want more tire clearance and more capability on rough terrain. It retains the drop bar and the fast feel of a gravel bike, while giving you considerably more room to maneuver when the gravel road turns into a forest road, trail, or a longer bikepacking adventure.
