The Barley Saddlebag is a versatile favorite in the Carradice Originals series, well suited for long gravel rides, light bikepacking, full-day trips, and stylish commuting. Its compact 9-liter volume provides practical space for tools, extra clothing layers, and provisions, while maintaining a sleek and slim profile under the saddle without getting in the way.
The bag is made from sturdy 18 oz waxed cotton fabric with self-sealing seams, offering reliable protection against persistent rain and mud splashes on rough roads. Like Carradice’s other bags in Cotton Duck, the material can be rewaxed and repaired over time. This makes the Barley a saddlebag built for many years of use rather than just a few seasons.
The forest green Field Green color is combined with burgundy leather details and brown straps for Carradice’s characteristic touring look. The bag attaches with sturdy leather straps to the saddle’s bag loops. If the saddle lacks loops, separate Saddle Loops can be mounted on the saddle rails, or the bag can be combined with a Bagman Quick Release Clamp for faster mounting and removal.
For better support with heavier loads, rough gravel terrain, and longer bikepacking trips, the Barley also works with Carradice’s Bagman support. Measuring 29 × 15 × 18 cm and weighing about 610 grams, it is spacious enough for a full day on the bike but still significantly more compact than Carradice’s larger touring bags.
A thoughtful choice for longer days on the bike when you want more packing space than a regular saddlebag offers, without stepping up to Carradice’s larger touring models.

Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.
Quote
After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
