Cinelli Chubby Ribbon Handlebar Tape

Cinelli Chubby Ribbon is an extra-thick handlebar tape for riders who want more cushioning and a fuller grip on drop bars. It’s especially well suited to long-distance riding and bikepacking, where vibration and strain on your hands become more noticeable after many hours on the bike.

The tape is 30 percent thicker and softer than Cinelli’s classic cork tape, and uses a proprietary dual compound construction for added comfort. The larger diameter may also suit riders with bigger hands, or anyone who simply prefers a thicker grip. If you’d rather have a slimmer handlebar and a more direct feel of the road, a thinner handlebar tape is a better choice.

The black surface features embossed Cinelli logos for a subtle look once the tape is wrapped around the bars. Two bar plugs and Cinelli-branded finishing tape are included. We often prefer to use regular electrical tape for finishing, since it’s easy to stretch and secure neatly.

So Chubby Ribbon isn’t just a thicker version for looks. It’s the right choice when you deliberately want to add comfort and increase the diameter of your cockpit - especially on a bike you’ll ride for long stretches at a time.
