The Dia-Compe BRS202 is a silver long-reach front brake that is particularly well suited to restoring a classic steel frame, building a randonneur, or creating more clearance for wider tires and fenders on a commuting or touring bike.

With a 57–75 mm reach, the BRS202 extends considerably farther than a standard road caliper. That is what makes the brake useful on frames and forks where the braking surface sits farther from the brake mount. Measure from the center of the brake bolt hole in the fork crown to the center of the rim’s braking surface before purchasing—if the measurement falls between 57 and 75 mm, you are within the brake’s adjustment range.

The brake arms are made from cold-forged aluminum, and the dual-pivot design provides good braking power and smooth movement between the brake arms. Dia-Compe’s indexed quick release makes it easy to open the brake when removing the front wheel, and 101 brake pads are included.

The BRS202 is a good choice when you need a truly long-reach caliper but still want components that fit into a classic and thoughtfully designed bike build.
