Dia-Compe DC165EX Brake Lever Set - Black
Out of stock
Some of you have asked for this, and we listened. The Dia-Compe DC165EX is a pair of classic drop-bar brake levers with integrated auxiliary levers that let you brake both from the drops and with your hands on top of the handlebar. When climbing, riding in the city, or simply wanting a more upright riding position, you can still bring the bike to a stop without first changing hand position.
The DC165EX builds on Dia-Compe's classic "Safety Lever" from the 1970s and combines the standard brake lever with an auxiliary lever that runs along the top of the handlebar. The design is intended for brakes with short cable pull and works with side-pull/caliper, center-pull, and cantilever brakes. The auxiliary lever is made of forged A6061 aluminum and is integrated with the main lever - the two parts therefore work together and cannot be used separately.
Isn't it wonderful that Dia-Compe still manufactures a product that is obsolete in many ways! For older road bikes, touring builds, and other bikes with drop bars, the DC165EX is still a perfectly practical solution, especially if you often ride with your hands on top of the handlebar but want to be able to brake from there.
