Dia-Compe DC980 is a modernized version of one of the brand’s classic cantilever brakes from more than 30 years ago. The basic concept remains the same, but the DC980 has been updated with new brake pads and individual spring-tension adjustment on both brake arms.
The brake arms are made from forged aluminum, and the separate spring adjustment makes it easier to center the brake over the rim and ensure both arms move evenly. Dia-Compe 980 brake pads, a straddle wire, and a cable guide are included, so you get the parts needed for the brake itself.
The DC980 can be used both front and rear and is sold individually—if you need brakes on both wheels, order two. A great choice when building or restoring a bicycle with cantilever mounts and looking for a classic design with a few practical updates.
