Dia-Compe Silver1 Bar-End Shifters
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
We often talk about "being one with the bike" when riding a fixed gear, but there’s a trick to applying that mechanical control to a geared bike: friction shifters! It doesn’t get simpler or more reliable than this. This model is designed by Rivendell Bicycle Works in the USA. They are part of their non-race component series called Silver.
The power ratchets give you a unique feel when shifting, and over time the gear positions will become muscle memory. They require a bit from you, but you’ll be rewarded in the long run. The Dia-Compe levers have a solid metal construction that won’t let you down; for long-distance bikes, these are the ones you want. If you’re somewhat of a bike rebel and want to break free from the big manufacturers’ compatibility charts, friction is the best solution.
Sold in pairs: front and rear shifters. The left controls 2/3-speed front derailleurs. The right shifts up to 10-speed cassettes with most rear derailleurs. Fits 23.8 mm handlebar ends, which means the outer diameter of drop bars. As always, there are a few exceptions. Please measure before ordering.

Build your custom dream bicycle with us
Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.
Quote
After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
