Izumi Tough Guard is our go-to chain for fixed gear and singlespeed bikes used year-round. We use it ourselves in the workshop when we want a durable 1/8" chain with better protection against rain, dirt, and road salt.
Tough Guard is based on Izumi’s proven 410 series and features a special three-layer surface treatment that provides better rust resistance. This makes it particularly well suited to commuting, urban cycling, and other fixed gear and singlespeed bikes used through autumn and winter.
The chain is 1/2 × 1/8", has 116 links, and fits chainrings and rear sprockets for wide 1/8" chains. An easy choice if you’re looking for a Japanese fixed gear chain with good durability and rust protection for cycling in a Nordic climate.

Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.
Quote
After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
