MKS Allways Pedals - Silver
Out of stock
MKS Allways is a platform pedal for anyone who wants to ride in regular shoes while still having plenty of support and grip underfoot. The large, gently concave platform works just as well on a touring bike or gravel bike as it does on a fast commuter, ATB, or other everyday bike where you want to be able to hop on in sneakers without giving up the feel of a really good pedal.
There is also quite a bit of classic MKS nerdiness behind the fairly simple shape. Mikashima Industrial began manufacturing aircraft components in Japan in 1943 and switched to bicycle pedals in 1946. The pedals are still made in Japan, and MKS has built much of its reputation on in-house metalworking, precise bearing adjustment, and components designed for long-term use rather than the lowest possible manufacturing cost.
Allways uses MKS’s Triple Sealed Bearing System. That literally means three sealed cartridge bearings per pedal: one bearing on the outside and two low-profile bearings on the inside, closest to the crank arm. The design distributes the load across several bearings at once, while the slim inner bearings help keep the pedal’s stack height low. MKS describes the technology as having evolved from its experience with cartridge-bearing pedals for professional track cycling, and the result is the typically light and smooth MKS bearing action that you notice immediately when spinning the pedal by hand. The bearings are also designed to be maintenance-free and should not be disassembled or oiled from the outside.
The platform itself measures 84 × 110 mm and is slightly concave so your foot naturally settles in the center. Grip comes from large, low molded studs together with replaceable stainless steel pins. This provides significantly better footing than a traditional touring pedal, but without the long, aggressive pins found on many dedicated MTB pedals, which can be harsh on ordinary shoe soles. The pedal is double-sided, so there is no correct side to search for when you put your foot back on after a stop.
This version has a standard 9/16" axle and weighs approximately 381 grams per pair. The silver finish is shot blasted rather than high-gloss, giving it a more matte and technical surface that pairs nicely with Nitto, Velo Orange, and other silver components on a carefully considered custom build. Allways is also available in an MKS Ezy Superior version with a quick-release axle, but this is the standard fixed version for a traditional crankset.
MKS Allways is therefore a good choice when you want more support and grip than a classic touring pedal provides, but do not want to switch to a dedicated MTB pedal. It is also very much MKS: an apparently simple Japanese component in which the bearings, manufacturing, and small design details have received considerably more attention than you might see at first glance.

Build your custom dream bicycle with us
Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.
Quote
After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
