The Runwell COG1218L Fixed Steel & Ti Cog Wrench is a cog and lockring tool for installing and removing fixed-gear cogs from 12T to 18T. Its main advantage is that you don’t have to struggle with a chain whip that can slip and damage your bike or injure you. The tool grips the cog directly and transfers torque efficiently, making it easier to remove cogs that have seized on the hub threads.
Runwell is a Japanese tool brand from Tsubame-Sanjo, specializing in hand tools for track bikes and fixed gear. The COG1218L was developed at the request of a mechanic who wanted to work faster when changing cogs frequently. One side fits 12–15T cogs and the other fits 16–18T, and the tool also works as a lockring wrench.
This is a particularly good fixed-gear cog tool for bike mechanics and velodrome riders who often change their gearing. The wear plates can be replaced, giving the tool a long service life. The COG1218L is made in Japan and designed for steel or titanium cogs and lockrings - not aluminum or carbon fiber.
