Velocity

Velocity is an American manufacturer of aluminum rims and wheels, with an unusually broad range for everything from road and touring to gravel, mountain biking, and more specialized wheel builds. We find them especially interesting because Velocity is one of the few manufacturers still offering a serious range of quality rims for rim-brake bikes, including sizes and designs that have become increasingly difficult to find.

The company was founded in Australia in 1989 and today manufactures its rims in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At a time when much of the cycling industry has switched to disc brakes, Velocity continues to make rims for both classic and modern rim-brake bikes. This makes them an important manufacturer for touring bikes, randonneur bikes, fixed gear, older mountain bikes, and other bikes that deserve good wheels long after the industry has moved on to the next standard.
