Cinelli Chubby Ribbon Handlebar Tape

Cinelli Chubby Ribbon is an extra-thick handlebar tape for those who want more cushioning and a fuller grip on drop handlebars. It is particularly well suited to long-distance cycling and bikepacking, where vibrations and strain on the hands become more noticeable after many hours on the bike.

The tape is 30 percent thicker and softer than Cinelli’s classic cork tape and uses a proprietary dual compound construction to provide greater comfort. Its larger diameter can also be a good fit for cyclists with larger hands or for those who simply prefer a more substantial grip. If, on the other hand, you want a slim handlebar and more direct contact with the surface, thinner handlebar tape is a better choice.

The black surface has embossed Cinelli logos that create a discreet look once the tape is installed on the handlebar. Two bar-end plugs and finishing tape with the Cinelli logo are included. We often use regular electrical tape for the finishing, as it is easy to stretch and get to hold securely.

Chubby Ribbon is therefore not just a thicker version for appearances’ sake. It is the right choice when you deliberately want to build in more comfort and a larger diameter in the cockpit—especially on a bike intended for long periods of use.
