The Nelson Longflap is one of Carradice's true classics: a spacious saddlebag for touring, bikepacking, gravel roads, and everyday commuting where you want to carry a lot without using panniers. The 18-liter volume provides space for a change of clothes, rain gear, food, and equipment for longer days or multi-day trips, while the two side pockets keep smaller items easily accessible.
The extendable Longflap lid is the bag’s great strength. As your load grows, the lid can be pulled over a higher load, and the extra straps allow you to attach, for example, a layer of clothing or a sleeping mat on the outside. This offers a flexible packing solution that works just as well on trips as when your daily load turns out to be bigger than planned.
The bag is sewn from sturdy 18 oz waxed cotton canvas with self-sealing seams. The material provides reliable weather protection, can be rewaxed when needed, and is built to be maintained and repaired for many years of use. Field Green is combined with burgundy leather details, brown straps, and metal buckles – a distinct Carradice expression that suits touring bikes, gravel builds, and other bikes where the load is part of the whole.
The Nelson Longflap attaches to the saddle’s bag loops. With heavier loads or when riding on rough roads, it can advantageously be combined with a Carradice Bagman support, which carries the bag and helps it sit more stably. With dimensions of 36 × 19 × 22 cm, an extended height of 44 cm, and a weight of about 950 grams, this is a large saddlebag, so check that you have enough space between the saddle and rear wheel before mounting.

Consultation meeting
At the first step in the process, we would like to discuss with you what kind of bicycle you are looking for, and what budget you have. It is best if we arrange a meeting for this, either in the shop or online.

After a paid deposit or purchase of a frame set, we send you a detailed quote. At this stage, there is still every opportunity to adjust the choice of parts.
The bicycle is assembled
Now things are starting to happen! The quote is finalized. We order components and put everything together ahead of the build. Depending on your choice of parts, it takes different amounts of time to assemble the bike, but two weeks from approved quote is usually enough.
The bicycle is ready for delivery
You are welcome to collect your custom bicycle. We also offer shipping to all corners of the world. From our initial meeting, we have taken your measurements so that you sit correctly on the bicycle. Before handing it over, we make small adjustments together with you and, if desired, go through how to adjust and take care of the bicycle. Happy riding! =)
