Izumi Tough Guard is the 1/8" chain we use in the workshop for fixed gear, track and single speed bikes ridden year-round. It has become our standard choice because it combines Izumi’s proven durability with corrosion protection that actually makes a difference on bikes exposed to rain, dirt and road salt.
Tough Guard is based on the Izumi ES410 and features a special three-layer treatment that provides better corrosion resistance than a regular untreated track chain. The chain is made in Japan from CroMo steel and comes with 116 links.
The dimensions are 1/2 × 1/8" and it fits chainrings and rear sprockets for wide 1/8" chains. A really good choice if you’re looking for a durable, corrosion-resistant chain for a fixed gear or single speed bike used for commuting and cycling in all weather.
