Paul Component Neo-Retro is a wide cantilever brake with powerful braking, plenty of clearance for tires and fenders, and the classic profile that many associate with truly great touring and cyclocross builds. Its geometry is based on the renowned Mafac Tandem brake, but Paul has made it from modern materials with significantly better adjustability.
The brake arms are CNC-machined from 6061 aluminum, and the wide construction provides good mechanical leverage and plenty of clearance around the tire. The brake pads can be adjusted for height, angle, and toe-in, while sealed pivots with adjustable spring tension keep the brake smooth-running and centered. Neo-Retro uses short pull and therefore works with traditional cantilever/road brake levers, not V-brake levers.
This silver-colored set includes front and rear brakes as well as Kool Stop Salmon Thinline pads, a cable hanger, and cable. For smaller frames or builds where you want a narrower brake profile, Paul Touring Canti is the closest alternative. Neo-Retro is hard to beat when you want a classic cantilever brake with modern performance, high serviceability, and Paul Components' distinctive finish.
