Genesis Bikes: Steel, passion, and a world record around the globe

Genesis Bikes has a simple approach: they only make bicycles that they themselves love. What began in 2001 with a single popular model at Ridgeback quickly grew into its own brand that today defines the category "adventure bikes." Genesis may not be the largest brand, but that allows them to focus on niches that the big giants overlook.

Most of their models are meant to be extremely versatile. These are bicycles that feel just as at home on the commuter road as on a muddy gravel adventure or a month-long touring trip. Best known is the iconic Croix de Fer – the bicycle Vin Cox used when he set the world record for the fastest cycling around the globe in 2010. That proved once and for all that Genesis’s combination of classic Reynolds steel and modern function is nearly unbeatable.

Important to note: Since Genesis is a British brand, the bicycles come with their brake standard: the front brake is controlled with the right lever and the rear brake with the left.
